LOCAL ARTIST SHOWCASE

Our Local Artist Showcase features a rotating selection of pieces from amateur artists and photographers. Every piece is available to purchase on consignment from the artist. For more information about a specific piece, or to inquire about purchasing, please contact us.

Myla Gonzales
Mixed media artist Myla Gonzales believes that when our eyes are more aware of the world around us, the inspirations and the appreciations unlock the box of creativity we all innately possess. With a Bachelor’s in Art Education from the Academy of Art University, she teaches at an art studio in Artesia. In this world that is constantly inundated with modern technology, she is passionate about finding little blissful moments. From fleeting to large encounters with people, animals and environment, this energy emanates within the paint and with every stroke of the palette knife, her favorite mode of transportation.
Irina Mirskaya
Irina Mirskaya enjoys digital imaging and conventional painting with watercolor, egg tempera and oils. Her experience includes art directing of a textile studio, teaching art at Otis College, elementary schools and private workshops, illustrating greeting cards and children’s books, creating art dolls and hand-painted jewelry. Characters, real or imaginary, populate Irina’s art: people next door or from far away and long ago, animals and magical folk and creatures. Dancers and musicians take a special place in Irina’s creative journey. Every ethnic, cultural, or social group of people has its own dance and music traditions, either changing with the times or being cherished and carefully preserved through generations. People dance! When they are happy, they dance. When they are sad, they dance, too. Their emotions are expressed through the movement, and it’s a fulfilling challenge to capture that movement on paper. Ethnic costumes, researched or imagined, add a bonus point of interest for Irina, as a textile designer. Irina exhibited at the Pacific Design Center, The Optical Allusion Gallery, Chemers Gallery, Gatov Gallery, Slutzky Gallery, Esencia Flamenca Studio, among others. Born in Russia, Irina now lives and works in Long Beach, CA, with her husband and two children.
